Bank Certification Request: Landbank vs BPI

Just wanted to share this today. Bank certificates are required when you're applying for visas to tour abroad. I have accounts on several local banks but today I was able to experience the bank certification request processes for both Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) and Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI).

If you're planning on opening savings accounts for your travel funds, I do suggest you open one with BPI. The transaction lead times are relatively short compared to other banks and is definitely less stressful.

Below is a quick table I made for reference on bank certification requests.

Good luck on your visa application!

  1. Hi! Are the details indicated in an LBP bank certificate the same with the ones given by BPI? Appreciate your answer/s. 😊

    1. Hi! BPI Bank CERTIFICATE has the ff. info:
      - Bank branch
      - Account name and number
      - Opening date
      - Current savings amount

The Bank STATEMENT on the other hand has your debit and credit (in and out) transaction details.

  3. Hi! I would just like to ask if you included the ADB for your bank certificate when you applied for a Korean visa? Also, do you have any idea how do they compute for it? Thank you so much.

    1. I don't think there was ADB mentioned on my bank cert. I just told the bank I need a bank cert and I guess they used whatever template they had. I'm not sure how that's computed. You have to ask your banker. I think the purpose for that is just for the embassy to know that you are actually maintaining a certain amount under your account. Some people would borrow huge amounts kasi before visa application and just return after. I think that's what they're trying to avoid.
